Eligibility Requirements
Note: Cost share is only available for complete system replacement.
Project Timeline (forms listed in bold are available for download below)
1. The landowner submits Request for Financial Assistance, Eligibility Questionnaire, and Cost-Share Essentials form along with a W-9(s) to the Conservation District (CD).
*NOTE: Work on the project cannot begin until AFTER the landowner signs the contract (Step 7)
2. Applications are ranked, and letters of tentative approval are sent out on or after July 1.
The landowner has 2 weeks from the day the letter is mailed to obtain a permit and submit it to the CD.
3. The landowner obtains estimates, selects a contractor, and the contractor or landowner obtains a permit from their city or from MABCD, depending on the location of the property.
4. The landowner or contractor submits the permit to the CD (within 2 weeks of receiving the tentative approval letter).
5. A contract will be created by the District Manager and approved by the Sedgwick County Conservation District Board of Supervisors and the State Division of Conservation.
6. The District Manager contacts the landowner by phone and/or mail when the contract is ready to sign.
7. The landowner signs the contract.
8. Work on the project can now begin.
The landowner has 60 days to complete the project. (Extensions may be granted in extenuating circumstances)
9. The Metropolitan Area Building and Construction Department (MABCD) or Wichita Environmental Service Department (depending on property location) inspects the project and signs off on it. This final evaluation is submitted to the Conservation District along with receipt(s) for payment in full.
10. The District Manager requests payment from the State.
11. Payment from the State is mailed to the landowner, NOT the contractor.
NOTE: No cost-share payments can be processed between May 20 and June 30 of the current year. Projects completed during this time will be submitted for payment in July.
